Jamie Oliver’s Big Night Out 2011

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

The Jamie Oliver Foundation once again held their annual fundraiser ‘A Big Night Out With Jamie’.

And once again Coulson Macleod was delighted to be involved.

Shoreditch Town Hall. Venue for ‘A Big Night Out With Jamie’ 2011

Coulson Macleod’s bespoke print designed for ‘A Big Night Out With Jamie’

And once again our bespoke typographic print was won by David Ellender, Global CEO of Fremantle Media who paid the final bid of £950 in the silent auction. Last year David won the bid on another bespoke print we designed for the same event, paying £1,100 for it. He’s obviously a man of impeccable taste.

And once again we received Jamie’s latest recipe book. This time it was ‘Jamie’s Great Britain’, signed by the man himself, of course. And a lovely thank you letter. Jamie said they raised £135,000 on the night. Which is pretty impressive in these financially leaner times.

The Jamie Oliver Foundation also emailed us to say, “We want to thank you very much for your endless support. It definitely would not have been possible without your generous donation.”

Other details of the night.…

Kate Nash performed. Ben Shephard hosted. Jools wore orange (thanks Daily Mail for that snippet). And not forgetting Gennaro Contaldo (as prompted by Jamie on Twitter)..

Holly Tucker Buys Coulson Macleod Art

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Holly Tucker, founder of the online marketplace Not On The High Street bought one of our typographic art prints about a year ago.

A great testimonial for us. And we thought no more of it.

Until…

our lovely friend, the eagle-eyed Hayley of Ruby Wren, spotted our black and white oak-framed art print in the background of this photo.

Can you see it leaning on the radiator?

Holly Tucker put this photo on the NOTHS blog. She was writing about her son Harry’s sixth birthday party.

This particular print has now been discontinued. Which has nothing to do with Holly buying it.

However, if you’d like to see more of our typographic artwork that is for sale, do pop on over to Coulson Macleod.

Coulson Macleod’s Opinion

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Sure, everyone has an opinion. But do you have one of Coulson Macleod’s?

Coulson Macleod has created nine typographic art prints for the Opinions Collection. Each features a chunky handmade, vintage-style, rough-sawn solid oak frame surrounding a white-washed oak panel printed with typography.

Each artwork has an unlimited print quantity.

The oak panel is cut and sanded by hand before being covered with a coat of diluted white lacquer wash to fill the grain, and then sanded and re-washed with the lacquer a second time. The panel is then over-printed with UV ink.

The mitred frame is handmade using rough-sawn solid oak with a shadow rebate on the groove. We purposefully retain any defects in the oak to add to the charm and character of the piece. These can include knot holes, warps and water marks, so each frame is totally unique.

The printed panel is then encased into the frame which is then glued and pinned, ready for hanging.

So, what’s your opinion?
