And these are the words…

Middle age is having the choice between two temptations and choosing the one that’ll get you home earlier.

What most people consider as virtue, when you reach middle age, is simply a loss of energy.

Inside every middle-aged person is a younger person wondering what’s happened.

Middle age is when you turn off lights for economical rather than romantic reasons.

When you reach middle age you can’t do anything everyday.

Just remember, once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed.

Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle.

The first sign of middle age is discovering that the volume knob also turns to the left.

Middle age is when you still believe you will feel better in the morning.

At the age of 20, we don’t care what the world thinks of us; at 30, we worry about what it is thinking of us; at 40, we discover that it wasn’t thinking of us at all.

Middle age is always fifteen years older than you are.

The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.

is 2 today.

Happy birthday to us!

Wow! What a two years it has been.

What started out as a ‘lets try it and see’ idea, Coulson Macleod has grown into a small, but global brand. We both fondly remember our first sale. We were SO excited. We happened to be going out to dinner with friends that evening and could barely contain our joy at having actually sold a piece of our own art.

My how we’ve changed over two years.

We’re on our third completely new website. Built from scratch each time. Good job we do it ourselves.

We’ve built a global customer base. Our typographic prints hang on the walls in 22 countries. Many of our customers are repeat. Our best customer has bought eight pieces to date.

We’ve been nominated for five awards.

There are shops in Italy, Norway, and the UK that stock our art.

Our prints are stocked by the luxury shopping directory Red Direct (part of the women’s magazine Red).

We’ve created so many amazing bespoke typographic pieces. Jamie Oliver was so pleased with the ‘Pukka Print’ we designed he sent us a signed copy of his latest recipe book and a letter.

We’ve been spotted on TV.

We’ve been published. In a gorgeous coffee-table design book. Alongside some really high profile designers.

And we have a long list of upcoming projects, which we can’t reveal just yet.

We have had an immense two years. So much fun. We love Coulson Macleod with a passion.

Thank you for taking the time to read our blog and sharing our love.

Here’s to a brilliant third year. Keep reading as we have lots planned.

Yes, that’s right, Coulson Macleod is one today!

The idea to sell art popped into our heads just over a year ago. And by the 4th March 2009 Coulson Macleod became an official business.

We launched our website on the 20th, and celebrated our first sale of a limited edition print two weeks later. Now, in the normal world of retail, two weeks would be rather a long time to wait for a customer. But at this stage you couldn’t have found us by searching on the internet. And we hadn’t advertised. We were ecstatic!

It’s been a brilliant year.

We’ve shipped prints to far away lands. Australia. New Zealand. Canada. And to practically every state in America. Customers sometimes buy more than one print at a time. Customers are coming back to buy more. For birthday gifts, wedding gifts, or another print for their own walls.

So we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers. And to everyone all around the world who has taken the time to write about us. Whether you’ve just posted an image of our artwork with a link back to us, or written a gushing wordy article, we still get totally excited at seeing our name out there.

We’ll be drinking a toast to our next year, which we’ve already got heaps of plans and designs for.

Cheers!
